A small cove with granite boulders piled down the left, white sand with a handful of people on it, and reef fanning out through the turquoise on the right. Cars parked on the road above the dunes, close enough that you can see exactly how easy this place is to reach. That is Eagle Bay in a single frame — spectacular, and ten steps from where you park.

It's the detail that surprises first-time visitors. There is no long hike, no gate, no entry fee. You come off Eagle Bay Road, park above the dunes and you are standing in water this colour a minute later. Ten minutes back down the road is Dunsborough; up the hill sit Eagle Bay Brewing Co and the Wise Wine cellar door. It is genuinely one of the most accessible beautiful beaches in Australia.

Personally shot by Australian aerial photographer Matthew Philip on a DJI Mavic 4 Pro. Its 100MP Hasselblad camera holds detail right through the shallows — you can trace individual reef fingers under the surface and pick out the granite texture on the boulders — so the image rewards standing close to it at every print size.

I deliberately left the parked cars in this one. They sit on the road just above the dunes, and they tell you something no amount of pretty water can: this place is ridiculously easy to get to. No hike, no gate, no entry fee. Park, walk thirty seconds, and you are in water this colour.

The cove itself does the heavy lifting — granite boulders stacked down one side, reef fanning out under the turquoise on the other, and a handful of people on the sand between them. I put the drone up just high enough to hold the whole arrangement in one frame.

The 100MP Hasselblad camera reads straight through the shallows here, so on a large print you can trace individual fingers of reef under the surface. Ten minutes down the road is Dunsborough, up the hill are the breweries and cellar doors — and this is sitting here in the middle of it, free to anyone who turns off the road.
