Eagle Bay Framed Canvas Print — Cape Naturaliste Coastline, WA

The Eagle Bay coastline curving away to the horizon, turquoise shallows scattered with dark reef, and the bushland headland running down the right with the road cut into it. It shows how the South West actually sits: bush right up to the sand, and no development in sight. That is what people drive three hours from Perth for.

This stretch runs along the protected northern face of Cape Naturaliste, linking Eagle Bay to Meelup Regional Park and on toward Bunker Bay and the Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse. Between May and September, humpbacks and southern rights track past this coastline on migration — the water in this frame is part of one of the great whale highways of the world.

Personally shot by Australian aerial photographer Matthew Philip on a DJI Mavic 4 Pro. Its 100MP Hasselblad camera holds two demanding kinds of detail at once — reef structure beneath the water and the fine texture of the coastal bush above it — so the image stays crisp and readable at every print size, right up to large statement canvas.

Scale and calm in the same frame

The receding coastline gives this piece real depth, which is rare in beach photography and enormously effective on a wall. About The Location

This is the frame I take when someone from over east asks me what the South West is actually like. Bush running right down to the sand, and not a single building in sight — just the coastline curving away toward Meelup with the road cut into the headland on the right.

I flew this looking down the coast rather than out to sea, because the recession into the distance is what gives the print its depth. Between May and September there are humpbacks moving through this exact stretch of water on migration; you can watch them from the lighthouse boardwalk at Cape Naturaliste a few kilometres up the road.

Holding reef detail under the water and bush texture on the land in one exposure is a genuine test, and the 100MP Hasselblad on the Mavic 4 Pro passes it comfortably. Three hours from Perth and it still looks like this. That is the whole point.
