Product Description

Sand runs down the left of the frame and the surf peels away along the length of the beach at Hastings Point, the coastline narrowing to a distant point that closes the horizon. Shot high and looking straight up the beach, so the whole run of it reads in one image.

Height changes what a beach looks like. From the sand this is a long walk with the water on your right. From here it is a single curve with the swell arriving in ordered lines against it, and you can finally see how the sandbanks are arranged underneath.

Personally shot by Australian aerial photographer Matthew Philip on a DJI Mavic 4 Pro. Flying high enough to compress a beach this way means every element ends up small in the frame, so resolution is doing all the work. The drone's 100MP Hasselblad camera keeps the individual lines of whitewater distinct all the way to the point.

A long, calm horizontal

The strong diagonal of the shoreline gives this piece movement while the muted greens and sand keep it restful. It suits a wide wall in a hallway, above a console or along a stairwell, where its length can be read from a distance.
