Product Description

Swell breaks white across the dark rock shelf at the Hastings Point headland, and behind it the beach curves away north into clear turquoise. This is the working end of the point, where the rock meets deep water and the ocean has somewhere to push against.

The headland is the reason people stop at Hastings Point. Its rock platform holds pools at low tide and takes the brunt of the swell at high, and aerial photography reveals the whole shape of it: the fractured granite, the channels cut between, and the colour change where the reef drops into open ocean.

Personally shot by Australian aerial photographer Matthew Philip on a DJI Mavic 4 Pro. This frame is a contrast problem more than anything else. Wet dark rock and bright foam sit at opposite ends of the range, and cheaper sensors give up on one or the other. The 100MP Hasselblad camera holds both, so the rock keeps its detail instead of going to solid black.

A stronger, more graphic piece

This is the boldest of the Hastings Point set. The dark rock gives it weight and structure, which makes it a better fit for a feature wall, a study or a hallway than the softer beach frames. It carries a large size well and looks its best where there is room to stand back from it.
