Meelup Beach Framed Canvas — Dunsborough, Western Australia

Tucked into its bushland cove between Dunsborough and Eagle Bay, Meelup Beach holds a stillness the South West is famous for — clear, sheltered Geographe Bay water lapping a small curve of white sand, with native green pressing close on every side. This aerial photograph leans into that intimacy: Meelup at its quietest, before the day arrives.

The cove is completely enclosed by Meelup Regional Park, which is why there is no development in the frame and why the bush canopy runs unbroken to the waterline. Shallow, calm and safe, it has been the beach WA families teach their kids to swim at for generations — and it sits minutes from Meelup Farmhouse and the Eagle Bay cellar doors for afterwards.

Personally shot by Australian aerial photographer Matthew Philip on a DJI Mavic 4 Pro. Its 100MP Hasselblad camera preserves the delicate detail this frame depends on — the transparency of the shallows, the texture of the canopy, and untouched sand with only the night's tide marks on it — sharp at every print size without ever looking hard or clinical.

About The Location

There is a version of Meelup most visitors never see — early, before the picnic rugs come out, when the only marks on the sand are from the night's tide. That is the Meelup I flew for this one.

Meelup Regional Park wraps the cove completely, so there is not a single building in the frame. From above the composition is all softness: green canopy, white sand, and water so clear the bottom reads like a chart. The whole thing feels held.

Gentle images are technically harder than dramatic ones — push them too hard and the delicacy is gone. The 100MP Hasselblad on the Mavic 4 Pro holds all that subtlety without hardening it. The busy summer Meelup is joyful and I have photographed it too. But this quiet one is the version I would hang above my own bed.
