Tucked along Rottnest Island's southern coastline, the bay is a study in contrast — bone-white sand, shallow reef gardens, and bands of turquoise deepening into open ocean blue. About The Location

Every time I ride the southern loop around Rottnest, Salmon Bay stops me. The water grades from glass-clear over sand, to green over reef, to serious ocean navy in the space of a few hundred metres — and from the beach you cannot see any of it.

I launched from the dunes and took this from directly overhead, the angle where Salmon Bay looks almost painted rather than photographed.
