Tamarama Beach Canvas Art — Sydney, New South Wales

Small, steep and stylish, Tamarama — affectionately "Glamarama" to Sydney — packs more drama per metre than any beach on the eastern coastline. Tucked between Bondi and Bronte on the coastal walk, its narrow cove funnels serious surf between rugged sandstone headlands.

On the map it's a dot. From the air it's a pressure cooker — a cove so narrow you could almost throw a frisbee across it, with the Pacific compressed between two headlands and arriving with real force. It's also the most dangerous patrolled beach in Sydney, which locals will tell you before you swim.

About The Location

Tamarama surprised me. On the map it is a dot between Bondi and Bronte; from the air it is a pressure cooker — a narrow cove funnelling the Pacific between two sandstone headlands onto a beach you could almost throw a frisbee across.

Sydneysiders call it Glamarama for the crowd it draws, but what the drone saw was pure geology and energy: swell bending into the gap, whitewater working the rocks, that small bright wedge of sand holding its ground. It is also the most dangerous patrolled beach in the city.
